The Science of Subtle Energies 2

The concept of "Subtle Elements" is not a discovery of modern time. It was known as ‘Tanmatra’ in the Indian philosophy. The Rishis perceived that in the beginning, the world existed in an unmanifested state of Consciousness, Avyakta. From that state the subtle vibrations of the cosmic soundless sound Aum manifested. From the subtle vibration of Aum came the Ether or space element. This ethereal element then began to move creating the Air element. The movement of Air produced friction, and through friction heat was generated. Particles of this heat combined to form intense light and from this light Fire element came into existence. The heat of fire liquefied certain ethereal elements forming water that then solidified to form the molecules of earth. The five basic elements called Mahabuta, exist in all matter. ‘Tan’ means subtle and ‘matra’ means elements. The ‘Tanmatra’, the subtle elements, are the objects of the five senses. This ancient knowledge knew, long before the birth of modern physics, that objects of senses were both physical and subtle elements. The subtle elements have no physical consistency; they are like elements in potency, a form of subtle matter. The five ‘tanmatra’ are sound, touch, form (light), taste and smell (ganda). All the subtle vibrations are actually interacting with our subtle body and our organs of senses. The ‘tanmatra’, the subtle, invisible elements, are actually the ways in which the world is sensed. Another meaning of ‘tan’ is mother and ‘matra’ also means matter, the mother of matter. The subtle elements are in the womb of the Cosmic Mother, Prakriti. It is this invisible, subtle energy that gives rise to the objective five elements, such as the experience of the sound is an invisible interaction between waves, particles and senses or the experience of light or color is a subtle propagation of photons. A great science of subtle energy was discovered long ago. Today, it is rediscovered and revisited by seekers of truth. Subtle energies are active everywhere in Prakriti, like continuous turbulent whirlwinds of energies, particles and fundamental noise. When the Ojas energy is established, a calming, deep and silent subtle vibration starts to move around. A higher and powerful order of energy can be activated and descends into the proper container (‘Antara’, inner space). The outer space deals with structures, materials, devices more or less in resonance, but the inner space has to be accurately prepared to receive energy and light and can be perceived by sensible spiritual hearts. The Ojas energy integrates, harmonises and establishes a new rhythm in nature. It works at the same time for perfection and evolution because of its spiritual source.
